Supervisor, Systems Engineering

Koch Engineered Solutions is looking for a Systems Engineering Supervisor to lead the team of Engineers responsible for the complete engineering package of John Zink equipment. The Systems Engineering team will coordinate with Project Management, Process Engineering, Controls Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, Quality, EH&S, and third-party engineering service providers to deliver profitable, high quality projects on-time. The successful Systems Engineering Supervisor candidate would be charged with leading a cross disciplinary team in an exciting and fast-paced environment. 

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Be a role model and positive example of the MBM (Market Based Management) Guiding Principles including integrity, humility, respect, and transformation.
  • Motivate and lead the Systems Engineering team and ensure that the whole team is fully engaged and aligned with our vision of supplying high-quality engineered systems which are safe, reliable, and delivered on-time.
  • Provide technical leadership, training, and guide engineers in the use of project standards to maintain high quality and consistency.
  • Manage the engineering resources and effectively communicate the team’s needs to the Engineering Manager.
  • Work with Engineering Supervisors in the other global regions to share knowledge and appropriately manage rapidly shifting workloads.
  • Together with the Controls Engineering team, design systems to supply and control Fuel, Combustion Air, Instrument Air, Steam, Water, and other streams to proprietary equipment for safe and functional operation, including P&IDs, structural engineering packages, mechanical and instrument datasheets, hydraulic calculations, and equipment drawings.
  • Provide technical support to Commercial Sales and Field Service Groups in development of proposals for new projects and other customer needs

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Proficient English language skills: reading, writing, and speaking
  • 1+ years’ experience in a leadership role
  • Experience with resource planning, scheduling, and coordination
  • Proven Mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently and with a team to solve problems
  • Working knowledge of GB piping design codes
  • BS Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Willing and able to work in an industrial environment on packaged equipment.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 5+ years’ experience in leadership role
  • Experience designing, specifying, operating, function testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of process and utility piping related equipment in the refinery and petrochemical industry: Mass/Heat transfer equipment, Flares, Thermal Oxidizer, Fluid Heaters/Furnaces, and/or Boilers
