Lean Mechanical Technician



Our Caldwell, Idaho location is seeking a self-directed Lean Mechanical Technician who will provide support in the manufacturing of products ranging from interconnect components to collimators to complex fiber optic assemblies used in a wide range of industries. The candidate we are seeking must have an innovative & creative thought process to support and improve productivity and operational excellence.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Leads and support initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve product performance in constrained areas like Lean 
  • Work with all the different areas, operators, leads, and supervisors on lean initiatives
  • Work with the manufacturing and quality teams to identify and address the root cause of quality defects
  • Identify and address waste reduction opportunities on the different manufacturing and transactional processes
  • Evaluate current build processes and utilize in-house experience to Lean Manufacturing processes 
  • Train operators on the specific Lean tools needed depending on the root cause; cost reduction, improved product performance, quality, etc.
  • Track cycle times and quality improvements
  • Analyze workforce utilization, production layout, operational data, process flow charts and production schedule to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment. 
  • Confers with management and engineering to implement plans and recommendations

The Experience You Will Bring


  • One year or more experience (working or education) with manufacturing lean tools and practices
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and drawings.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Completion of Lean Certification
  • Associates Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience using a 3D printer
