The IT Manager will support both business and information technology needs by leading a small team in Auburn Hills, MI with responsibilities in IT Service Management, IT Communications, IT governance, and Business Systems Analysis. Our team engages in both the business and technology sides of many transformation activities happening at Guardian Industries allowing employees to use their business skills while gaining valuable insights on the technical side as well. This role is ideal for people interested in a managerial role within technology.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Motivate each employee and ensure employees are on the right team, in the right role, and assigned responsibilities based on comparative advantage

  • Provide coaching and guidance to the team and provide regular and timely feedback on performance to ensure employees are connected to our vision, perform according to expectations, find fulfillment in their role, and help each team member to advance their career
  • Develop the talent pipeline and capabilities of both existing and future team members
  • Remove roadblocks to maximize team effectiveness
  • Assist with development and implementation of team strategy, priorities, and roadmaps
  • Develop strong relationships with both IT and the business capabilities
  • Continually evaluate and improve repeatable processes and procedures to maximize team efficiencies
  • Focus on using leveraged capabilities (shared internal resources or third parties) where valuable and managing those partnerships
  • Acquire, share, and apply knowledge
  • Drive transparency and communication within IT as well to our business partners

The Experience You Will Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role

  • Strong desire to own the development and career path direction of team members
  • Strong desire and ability to empower and develop others
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment with a diverse workforce
  • Strong relationship building both within IT and business capabilities
  • Strong decision making, critical thinking, organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills across a range of audiences
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with minimal direction
  • Strong initiative with the ability to seek out opportunities that can create additional value for the organization

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in leading a global team

  • Experience working in an IT organization
  • Experience managing IT project and application portfolios
  • Knowledge of and experience with ITSM best practices and capabilities
  • Experience working with complex enterprise and global stakeholders
  • Experience in ServiceNow, O365 and PowerBI
