In Fremont, we serve large, global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing next generation optical modules to support the growing need for data and communications. We are developing optical connectivity solutions, optoelectronic solutions, Wavelength Selective Solutions, OptoHD assembly and fiber optic assemblies and arrays.

The Optical System Engineer will be responsible for the Optical Amplifier, ROADM and transport product systems. 

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Work with marketing and internal multi-discipline design team to design Optical Amplifier, ROADM and transport product systems.
  • Perform architecture design, evaluate and recommend solutions.
  • Partition development tasks and define product level specifications.
  • Review and approve function and interface specifications, testing specification and reliability plan.
  • Technical lead on product development with multi-discipline team members for whole NPI.
  • Technical lead with multi-function engineering resources for customer technical support, as well as providing technical guidance in problem solving of issues that may arise in manufacturing.

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related discipline 
  • At least 10 years of Optical Amplifier, ROADM product development with role on Optical System Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of Telecom/Datacom standards, specifications and methodologies, knowledge and experience on Ethernet, OTN, SDN
  • Experience in Amplified WDM, ROADM based optical transmission systems modeling, simulation, and performance tradeoff analysis
  • Strong knowledge and experience on optical transceivers, WDM, EDFA, Raman Amplifier, WSS, OCM, OTDR, and other optical centric network elements
  • Knowledge and experience on network product hardware and software design, familiar with X86 embedded system, NetConf/YANG, Sonic, etc.
