Lead Cloud Engineer (Remote)



This role will be part of a team that builds and supports the automation around provisioning, securing, monitoring, and updating cloud infrastructure. The role will be responsible for mentoring other Cloud Engineers and finding opportunities to improve our architecture and deployment capabilities using cloud and cloud-native technologies to increase our innovation velocity across the company. Security, data privacy, and system resilience are integral to the design and architecture. A candidate should have an appreciation for running platforms in the cloud with respect to security, cost, performance, and complexity.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Ownership of Kubernetes stack related to stabilization, scalability, and reliability, future service enhancements, and training/documentation for cross-functional team members.
  • Manage vendor relationship, enablement, and support models for Istio/Gloo implementation.
  • Development of ArgoCD/developer experience as it pertains to IaaS in collaboration with Architecture team.
  • Lead, mentor, and communicate technical recommendations and support execution to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop functional and design specifications to support product requirements; produce and maintain documentation to support solutions that you have developed/deployed to aid in the support of the solution.
  • Work independently, or within the construct of a platform product team, to understand the technical requirements of our product teams to deliver creative solutions which meet or exceed those needs.
  • Automate our operational processes as needed with a long-term, security-focused, enterprise-readiness mindset. 
  • Build strong relationships with Product Owners/Managers that promote value exchange.
  • Troubleshooting and providing technical support services, including participation in on-call rotation.

The Experience You Will Bring


  • 3+ years of experience in software/cloud development; specifically in troubleshooting, performance tuning, security configurations, and all aspects of complex enterprise server environments.
  • 1+ years of experience in technologies related to EKS and/or other Kubernetes/container-based platforms.
  • Experience designing and implementing capabilities in AWS, Google, Azure, and/or other cloud service providers.
  • Experience working within large organizations and collaborating/educating teams on best practices.
  • Experience leading cloud services implementations and administration with minimal direction.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • AWS Certifications and/or educational background
  • Knowledge of continuous delivery tools (ArgoCD)
  • Knowledge of service mesh/gateway capabilities (Istio/Gloo)
  • Experience in DevOps environments leveraging Agile/Scrum working processes
  • Experience as a technical team lead

For this role, we anticipate paying $120,000 - $160,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
