Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking a Senior Financial/Costing Analyst to join the Packaging and Cellulose Manufacturing Product Costing and Analysis team. As a member of this team, you will serve as a subject matter expert around the manufactured product costing within the Packaging and Cellulose Controllers Organization. 

You will create value for the company by:

  • Building and maintaining timely and accurate product costing standards using third party managed products
  • Reviewing and understanding the actual cost flows of these products
  • Identifying product category leaders, to enable strategic decision making and ensure the effectiveness of our operations, manufactured finished products.
  • Reviewing and understanding the actual cost flows of these products, executing the month-end closing steps for our manufacturing locations
  • Collaborating with the rest of the FP&A organization, operations leadership, and the product category leaders to enable strategic decision making and ensure the effectiveness of our manufacturing operations.

Our corporate HQ is in Atlanta, GA and we are considering REMOTE candidates! Travel to GP HQ and supported locations (including overnight stays) may be required for training and onboarding and to meet priority business demands.

The ideal candidate should have an understanding of financial and manufacturing cost analysis concepts, attention to detail, comfort working with large sets of data, demonstrated initiative, a natural curiosity, effective communication skills, and possess a transformation mindset. While in this position you will obtain excellent knowledge of the key drivers of success in our business and will be provided the opportunity to learn from all levels of management in one of the largest private companies in America.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Obtain a solid working knowledge of the primary drivers of operations, externally procured and co-manufactured products and their impact on financial performance. This will include:
    • Exposure to manufacturing processes
    • Learning product costing concepts and key financial processes
    • Networking with operations and other finance teams
  • Develop and maintain product cost standards for our manufacturing locations and marketing entities.
  • Perform the Product Costing Team’s role within mill financial and monthly closing processes
  • Review actual variances from standard and adjust where needed
  • Provide weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting
  • Seek and share knowledge, identify opportunities for improvements, challenge the status quo, propose solutions
  • Create, review, and update product cost standards for contract manufactured products
  • Identify key business trends through benchmarking, KPI tracking and analysis =
    • Provide key insights to Business Finance team to support decision making
    • Build visualization that supports the required knowledge for business decisions
  • Drive transformation by respectfully challenging historical practices and leveraging technology enablers and automation
  • Support process improvements for financial systems and reporting
  • Develop training materials and content for analytical enabling tools  
  • Support consolidated/consistent reporting; minimize waste by leveraging data and tools
  • Improve efficiency in getting information to business and capability teams
  • Advance the Market-Based Management® (MBM®) culture by applying and reinforcing the company’s Guiding Principles  

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or related Business field of study
  • Knowledge of key financial concepts, economic principles and marginal analysis
  • Proactive/self-driven work habits with demonstrated ability to lead change, solve problems and improve processes.
  • Business Partnering Skills (customer focus, sense of urgency and attention to detail)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite with proficient skills in Excel (creating charts, formatting cells, working with macros and pivot tables ) and PowerPoint (change slide layout, applying new presentation design and inserting images)
