Waterjet Operator- First Shift



Position Overview: 

Molex, in Monee Il.  is currently seeking a Water Jet Operator to join our team on our 1st shift. Under the supervisor of the Production Supervisor, the Water Jet Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the water jet machine, and supporting equipment, and producing quality parts built to customer supplied prints.  

Essential Functions: 

  • Set up machine and observes machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, interpret drawings and/or part specifications to ensure correct dimensions and tolerances of finished product.  

  • Operate controls and deburr parts as needed. 

  • Responsible for ensuring that work order instructions are followed, the correct materials are loaded, cutting program is installed, setting offsets and machine control adjustments are made to ensure maximum material yield and quality of products. 

  • Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine accordingly and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.  

  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. 

  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the P.M. charts. 

  • Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks: setting up and operating presses, dies switch outs, material handling, and inspect. 

  • Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above. 

  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up. 

  • Other duties as specified by Supervisor, including working in other areas of manufacturing as needed. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED. 

  • Minimum of 1 year of factory-related experience. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience as a Water Jet Operator 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Must be able to read blueprints, use common mechanical measuring devices. 

  • Must possess troubleshooting skills and logical thought process. 

  • Must be able to read blueprints, use common mechanical measuring devices. 

  • Ability lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Work Environment 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The employee must also follow all safety guidelines and wear PPE as required.  

Physical Demands 
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for our 1st shift

No travel is expected for this position. 

Preferred Education and Experience 

  1. Training in general safety, electrostatic discharge awareness, foreign object damage awareness and quality system awareness. 

  1. Experience as machine operator. 

  1. Blueprint reading. 

In order to comply with U.S. export control laws and regulations, this position requires applicants to either provide proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status or be eligible to receive an export authorization (a license) under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or the Export Administration Regulations.
