Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Manufacturing Optimization Leader to join our cellulose team located in Brunswick, GA. The  Manufacturing Optimization Leader  is responsible for supporting the mill’s vision of creating long term value measured by reduction in operating cost, waste, & process variability. Long-term value is created through the application of the company’s business philosophy of Market-Based Management® and Georgia-Pacific’s Guiding Principles. Reporting to the Fiberline Area Leader, the  Manufacturing Optimization Leader  will have direct responsibility for the leading and development of our Process Engineers focusing on our Fiberline assets in the mill. 


What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Promote and develop a culture where all employees are 100% involved in safety activities including:
      • Addressing unsafe conditions, behaviors and practices in a timely manner
      • Identifying safety gaps and initiate self-corrective actions
  • Identify gaps in operating cost, waste, and process variability & work with your team to close the gaps.
  • Own process engineering team in the Fiberline Department & manage a team of process engineers.
  • Perform data analysis, assess & optimize the production process
  • Lead and support root cause analysis (RCA) for the production process
  • Design, test, upgrade and run production systems and processes
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement practices and innovative solutions to improve and optimize production rates, quality output and uptime
  • Assist with capital projects that are to be executed in production or at the site
  • Continue to develop and share knowledge with team
  • Collaborate with R&D and other GP facilities when a new product or process is being introduced or upgraded


The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering
  • Three (3) or more years of manufacturing or engineering experience within a manufacturing or military environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook 
  • Six Sigma Training


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemical or Pulp & Paper Engineering
  • Pulp and Paper industry experience
  • Leadership/management experience within a manufacturing or military environment
  • Greenbelt Six Sigma Certification
  • Experience using PowerPoint, Pi, and Visual Basic
