Maintenance Technician



Maintenance Technicians at INVISTA create value by safely maintaining the manufacturing equipment to meet production goals of the Camden Site. They are expected to show initiative to expand their knowledge of the different types of control systems in the various manufacturing areas. The Maintenance Technician provides operation support plant-wide and performs troubleshooting and general maintenance on the industrial manufacturing equipment which could include, but not limited to: AC/DC motor controls, process loop instruments, PLCs, MCCs and switch gears. While the focus of work by the CE will be electrical, our vision for our maintenance crafts includes development of multi-craft skills so some select General Mechanic skills will be needed or need to be attained.

Work Schedule:

There are two different work schedules the successful candidate could be assigned:

  1. 8-hour days Mon. - Fri.
    • Schedule is subject to modification as production needs dictate


  1. Rotating 12-hour shifts. (36 hours one week, 48 hours the following week) Average full-time work schedule of 14 days per month (includes a 7 day break every month)
    • Rotating shift schedule requires employee to work at least 50% of weekends and some holidays
    • Schedule is subject to modification as production needs dictate

A Day in the Life Typically Includes:

  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on all plant mechanical equipment including but not limited to: Pumps, Gearboxes, Cylinders, Compressor, Chillers, Winders, Conveyor Systems, Extruders, etc.
  • Complete Job Safety Analysis prior to starting work to ensure all possible hazards are mitigated
  • Provide accurate and detailed feedback to work order system (SAP).
  • Perform line breaks
  • Rigging and Crane Signaling

In all areas of responsibilities, the successful candidate must demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in basic hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Demonstrate the ability to read hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
  • Knowledge of precision alignment of motors and couplings, chain and sprocket drives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment with operators, mechanics and exempt professionals; requiring minimal supervision.
  • Ability to problem-solve and use economic thinking skills
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram forms.

What do you need?

  • Ability to work either day-based or rotating shift-based schedule
  • Minimum: one of the following:
    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing / industrial or related military field performing general mechanic tasks such as millwright, pipefitting, rigging, laser alignments, pump and gearbox re-builds, etc.
    • 2-year associate degree or higher in a related mechanical maintenance field (copy of degree required)
    • Certificate of completion in a mechanical maintenance related coursework (copy of certificate required)
    • Journeyman or equivalent certified level in demonstrated skills

What would put you ahead?
Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience performing advanced millwright tasks such as laser alignments, pump and gearbox
  • Experience using maintenance module of SAP or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Proficient in reading engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Basic skill level in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting (45lbs), walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations including wearing personal protective equipment
  • Willing and able to work a twelve (12) hour shift or eight (8) hour shift to include, weekend & holiday hours
  • Willing and able to work in a hot/humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
  • Physical Abilities test will be required
