Production Supervisor


Phillips-Medisize, is seeking a Production Supervisor to support our medical manufacturing facility in Menomonie, WI. This position Provide leadership for all production activities emphasizing the priorities of safety, quality and efficiency to meet or exceed business plan objectives and meet customer expectations for quality, delivery and service.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Provide direction and leadership to production staff, including people management as follows: managing performance; addressing disciplinary issues; hiring; assisting people with career development; communicating information to direct reports and passing information up the management chain; ensuring team is aligned with and accomplishing goals/objectives; administrative processing; and, maintaining trust and confidentiality
  • Demonstrate leadership ability and foresight to plan and delegate work in advance
  • Organize and coordinate activities within the manufacturing operation to meet or exceed the facility and corporate goals
  • Ensure quality procedures are executed and quality parts are produced and delivered on time that meets customer specifications
  • Project staffing for daily and future production needs
  • Coach and facilitate problem solving among production staff
  • Promote continuous improvement involvement along with timely completion of all corrective actions assigned
  • Consistently monitor machinery, processes, tools and work cell layouts in order to recommend improvements that yield increases in profit and quality levels and decreases potential safety hazards
  • Create an environment of accountability on the production floor
  • Some programs may have vision requirements
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Where applicable, individual is pre-planning safety into work activities to improve performance
  • Proactively identifies safety concerns
  • Complies with Environmental Management System program SOP’s/WI, Policy & Program elements and encourages responsible use of resources
  • Actively participate in continual improvement/innovation, corrective action and internal/external customer satisfaction

Completion of one of the following:

  • Submission of a continuous improvement idea
  • Active participation in a Phillips-Medisize sponsored committee or event
  • Examples include a - Rapid Improvement Event, a 5S/Lean event, Safety
  • Committee, Wellness Committee, Recycling Committee, Activity Committee, or other Phillips-Medisize sponsored community outreach project/event (United Way, Junior Achievement, etc.)

Additional Facility Specific Key Responsibilities:

  • Custom Design Development
  • Scheduling/planning workload for production and sample work, for 1st and 2nd shifts
  • Technical Lead for Sample Technicians
  • Participate in project kick off meeting for new tooling projects, representing production
  • Magnesium Molding
  • Phillips Medical
  • Metal Injection Molding
  • Phillips Medical – Eau Claire
  • LSR:
  • Supervise the facility team across all shifts and days of operation
  • Phillips Automotive
  • Phillips Medical – New Richmond
  • Phillips Medical – New Richmond, Tech Drive:
  • Assist in ensuring product is running rate and of good quality
  • Assist in making decision on product quality with quality support
  • Perform end of shift reports in IQMS
  • Read schedule for order quantities and customer expectations to due date
  • Complete dimensional, visual and functional lot release on incoming and outgoing product in accordance with sampling plans and take action in accordance to documented procedures when potential quality problems are identified:
  • Control and properly document non-conforming product
  • Prepare appropriate inspection records and measurement reports
  • Identify and recommend continual improvement opportunities for quality systems

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Minimum of two years directly related experience (supervising in a manufacturing environment)
  • Experience with computer-based manufacturing systems and computers for basic business functions (email, Word, Excel)
