Operations Manager

Description

Phillips-Medisize, is seeking an Operations Manager to support our medical manufacturing facility in Menomonie, WI. This position will plan, organize, lead, and control assembly and tooling operations to meet or exceed business plan objectives and meet customer expectations for quality, delivery, and service in large facility.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Provide direction and leadership to Manufacturing and post molding operations including people management as follows: managing performance; addressing disciplinary issues; hiring; assisting people with career development; communicating information to direct reports, passing information up the management chain and fostering open communication; ensuring team is aligned with and accomplishing goals/objectives; administrative processing; and, maintaining trust and confidentiality while fostering a team environment
  • Supervise and manage the facility production team leaders in a 24x7 mfg. environment
  • Organize and coordinate activities within the manufacturing operation to meet or exceed the facility and corporate goals, including working with engineering group
  • Ensure quality parts are produced and delivered on time that meets customer specifications
  • Forecast capital expenditures for improvement, replacement, or modification to production equipment and facilities
  • Coach and facilitate problem solving among team members
  • Develop, maintain and improve systems/procedures
  • Ensure GMP and GDMP procedures are followed
  • Consistently monitor machinery, processes, tools, and work cell layouts in order to recommend improvements that yield increases in profit and quality levels and decreases in potential safety hazards
  • Participate in the business planning process

Safety/Environmental:

  • Where applicable, individual is pre-planning safety into work activities to improve performance
  • Proactively identifies safety concerns
  • Complies with Environmental Management System program SOP’s/WI, Policy & Program elements and encourages responsible use of resources
  • Actively participate in continual improvement/innovation, corrective action and internal/external customer satisfaction

Completion of one of the following:

  • Submission of a continuous improvement idea
  • Active participation in a Phillips-Medisize sponsored committee or event
  • Examples include a - Rapid Improvement Event, a 5S/Lean event, Safety
  • Committee, Wellness Committee, Recycling Committee, Activity Committee, or other Phillips-Medisize sponsored community outreach project/event (United Way, Junior Achievement, etc.)

  • Custom Design Development
  • Ensure cGMPs are followed and provide necessary training
  • Ensure increased focus is placed on process development for finished medical devices
  • Maintained focus on good documentation practices
  • Ensure focus on inventory management
  • Support Production quality goals
  • Adhere to and support requirements for clean room manufacturing
  • Manage a flexible (full time/contract) work force
  • Help promote overall efficient operational environment

  • Function as the customer contact on quality and delivery issues outside the routine scope of our Customer Service Representative
  • Provides direction to Toolmakers and Mold Maintenance Support people
  • Ensure that production planning is carried out to most efficiently use existing resources
  • Coordinate input from Mold Technicians, Toolmakers, and Engineers to determine cause of problems. Develop solutions that are acceptable for customer lead times based on tooling workload and time required
  • Determine most efficient tooling actions to be taken while considering long-term effects, tool life expectancy, time available, and procedures and equipment available
  • Coordinates mold revisions and repairs with outside vendors when resources limit available action in-house
  • Obtains blueprints and any other pertinent information that will assist in the mold revision/repair
  • Schedule tool room work based on priorities set by lead times, production planner and customer demands

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience leading/supervising people
  • Bachelors’ degree in a manufacturing related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a large manufacturing environment
