Quality Chemist

Our Chemical facility in Columbus, OH is currently recruiting for a Quality Chemist.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Implementing quality programs and initiatives. Analyzing the effectiveness of the quality system and coordinates quality related issues with the Quality Manager, Plant Operations management, and other functional disciplines.
  • Using knowledge to develop and carry out objectives, solving problems, and responding to short-term and long-term needs and goals.
  • Playing an active role in maintaining quality equipment, calibrating equipment, troubleshooting equipment.
  • Designing and implementing quality training programs to key personnel in conjunction with quality and operations managers.
  • Exemplifying and fostering a culture of the quality vision to plant personnel; influencing members of peer group and non-direct reporting functions.
  • Investigating customer complaints regarding quality. Providing technical assistance to the Quality Manager and R&D with respect to quality issues, as well as out of spec material.
  • Obtaining resin and raw material samples, performing bench blends to determine best dilution/adjusting required to get material back in spec.
  • Performing quality reviews of documentation for conformance with stated requirements, including quality manuals and plant quality procedures and records.
  • Following standard methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of equipment and resins.
  • Performing internal audits, surveys and facilitating action plans to assure conformance to specific quality/customer requirements and procedures (Gauge R&R Studies studies).
  • Reviewing all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures (Gauge R&R Studies results).
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of industry quality procedures and standards.
  • Assisting in driving Continuous Process Improvement activities throughout the organization (PMI reviews, process optimization).
  • Conducting water treatment testing on facility process water.
  • Package and ship HAZMAT product samples to customers according to DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations. 

The Experience You Will Bring


  • A Bachelor’s Degree (BS) or higher in a technical field or three (3) or more years' experience in an industrial lab setting or academic research, with basic knowledge of typical lab equipment, glassware, lab techniques
  • Experience with analytical equipment: GC, FT-NIR, titrators
  • Able to lift and carry 25 pounds
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel, and other PC-based tracking and reporting applications, analyzing, and graphing data

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Three (3) or more years working in an industrial or lab environmen
  • Experience in basic inventory control, FIFO, material ordering
  • Experience performing testing on industrial process samples, maintenance and calibrations for Quality/Industrial lab testing equipment
  • Experience with statistical analysis
  • Water Treatment testing experience.
  • Current DOT, IATA, IMDG HAZMAT shipment certification
  • ERP experience, preferably in Infor
  • Experience in batch and continuous manufacturing
