Based in Brandon, Manitoba, we synthesize and blend nitrogen, phosphate, and sulfur products with ammonia, which we market primarily in the prairie provinces of Canada and the northern United States. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, we employ approximately 270 dedicated team members. Our fundamental commitment to safety, health, and environmental stewardship drives all our processes.

In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the successful applicant will be hired into this position at ‘M1’ rate (currently$47.67/hour) and receive a Pay for Knowledge premium of$0.50/hour. All overtime is paid at double time. 

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Pneumatic tubing and electrical wiring on existing installations
  • Temperature sensors and indicators
  • Pressure and vacuum sensors and indicators
  • Oxygen and gas analysis equipment in laboratories
  • Moisture and humidity sensing and indicating systems
  • Sensors and indicators measuring speed, position and timing
  • Pneumatic or electronic transmitters and data scanning systems
  • Work a rotating shift 7 on/7off
  • Work proficiently in a variety of tasks
  • Plan and organize in a mechanical and operations environment 
  • Take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Communicate well both verbally and written

Other duties include:

  • Reading blueprints to determine the size and nature of installations
  • Determining and mark access routes for equipment
  • Diagnosing malfunctions and conduct repairs
  • Examining and adjust equipment
  • Assisting in selecting and planning maintenance and inspection programs and training maintenance crews

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel as necessary
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, work at heights
  • Ability to pass pulmonary breathing test
  • Ability to wear gas mask-type respirator and PPE
  • Tolerance to fumes and airborne particles (occasional exposure)
  • Unassisted physical mobility in and around plant
  • Availability for shift work and emergency call out
  • Ability to travel to and enter site and access equipment
  • Monitoring and alarm systems

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Instrumentation certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent (ie. GED)
  • At least three (3) years of related industrial experience
  • Current knowledge of new developments in instrumentation technology
  • Demonstrated understanding of instrumentation requirements of mechanical equipment and plant maintenance
  • Experience using problem solving skills to determine best repair solutions
  • Experience computer skills including experience working with maintenance planning programs such as Maximo or similar program
  • Valid Class Five (5) driver’s license
