Accountant (Investments)

Description

Koch Investments Group (KIG) is seeking an Accountant to join their Finance and Accounting team in Wichita, KS. This position will require a highly motivated, detailed-oriented, and self-driven individual. The position will interact with business leaders and the Investments Controller and CFO. Interested candidates should have knowledge of accounting principles, an aptitude for learning new systems, and a focus on continuous transformation.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Tax accounting/analysis:
    • Monthly tax accounting entries
    • Managing master-data updates in tax provision system as new investments are created
    • Develop relationships and foster partnering between the KIG CFO org and Tax compliance
    • MTD/YTD Effective Tax Rate analysis for controller/CFO 
  • SGA accounting/reporting/analysis: 
    • Ownership of the SGA Reporting for combined KIG Organization, and for the individual KIG business groups 
    • Intra-company SGA allocation process; allocating internal capability costs, as well as costs rebilled from KII 
    • Preparing supporting reports to aid in building Full-Year Plan for each KIG group 
  • Seek and share knowledge, identify opportunities for improvements, challenge the status quo, propose solutions 
  • Advance the Market-Based Management® (MBM®) culture within the team by applying and reinforcing the company’s Guiding Principles 

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business-related field 
  • Working knowledge of general accounting functions (G/L, Intercompany Transactions, Account Reconciliations, Journal Entries, Variance Analysis, Month-End close) and Internal Financial Controls 
  • Understanding of integrated financial systems, complex accounting systems and database structure 
  • Analytical thinking; capable of evaluating information and challenging appropriately, and identifying process improvement opportunities 
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present financial concepts to various internal and external audiences; you are comfortable being seen and heard 
  • Collaboration mindset that seeks to build working relationships and bridge gaps between partners 
  • Aptitude and desire for problem solving, adopting and promoting the use of new technologies, learning new systems and improving processes through automation 

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in Tax accounting and/or Tax provision software 
  • Experience in SG&A accounting, allocations, intercompany transfers and/or rebilling 
  • Experience reconciling transactions between multiple systems 
  • SAP, Infor or other large ERP, integrated accounting system experience 
  • Advanced Microsoft/Office365 skills that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive 
  • Experience with Excel macros, SQL/VBA, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx and/or other data visualization tools 
  • Previous Public Accounting or Large Company Corporate Accounting Experience
