Manufacturing Supervisor


Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to join our team at our Memphis, TN facility. The Manufacturing Supervisor role is a key leadership role that will provide direction to two Operations crews. Through the role’s leadership, clear expectations will be set for crews and individual team members will be held accountable for results in operational areas including Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Compliance, Reliability, Quality, Production and Cost. This is an integral part of our bet to meet the challenge of improving at a faster rate than our competition. We will do this through flawless execution of our reliability strategies and development of our employee’s knowledge, skills, and capabilities. This role will report to the Operations Manager and work with the other Manufacturing Supervisor as a cohesive leadership team.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Lead team members toward excellence in Environmental, Health, and Safety and compliance by identifying and resolving hazards with critical and high risks
  • Lead and mentor team members to be consistent with our guiding principles
  • Lead, mentor, coach and hold direct reports accountable for paper machine results that are impacted by people performance and capability
  • Verify technician execution of all asset strategies and processes
  • Execute all phases of performance management with all team members including annual performance review, quarterly performance conversations with individual development plans and RRE’s that are aligned with the mill’s goals
  • Identify and use measures (leading and lagging) that indicate how well the operating technicians are performing
  • Ensuring decision making and actions are consistent with the collective bargaining agreement language and intent
  • Spend 60 to 75% of time on the floor working with technicians, 25 to 40% of time doing administrative work

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Two years of leadership experience in manufacturing or Military Veteran (E5 or above)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools in the following manner: Excel – (sorting data, creating tables, and creating graphs); Outlook – (scheduling tasks, calendar invitations and general professional correspondence); Word – (document creation/editing); PowerPoint – (presentation creation/editing)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Two years of supervisory experience, with direct reports in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Two years of experience applying reliability strategies in an ownership-based work system
