Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Press Operator to join the team at our OSB facility in Fordyce, AR. Press Operators will safely and effectively perform periodic maintenance routines to identify and correct mechanical defects before they fail. As a Press Operator you are also responsible for using hand tools on the equipment as needed and must have the ability to pay careful attention to details. What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Operate Press, Forming, and Blending heavy equipment on any shift - including 12-hr rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime in a hot, humid, cold and noisy, tobacco-free industrial environment
  • Perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs., walking, climbing, stooping, standing, reaching, pushing and/or pulling for at least twelve (12) hours a day in high and/or confined spaces
  • Assist with coverage gaps in Press area
  • Play key role in training new hires, as well as developing knowledge sharing and consistency between teams
  • Work closely with Area Superintendent to identify and close gaps in the department
  • Verify and validate operating procedures and driving necessary changes
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with other team members in a team-based environment
  • Sit at control panel and operate many controls with hands/fingers
  • Use hand tools and other equipment, such as air hoses and rakes
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally sound work environment
  • Adhere to all plant health, safety, and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures with the ability to wear the necessary Personal Protection Equipment (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, face shield, ear plugs, steel-toe boots and other PPE required by specific jobs)
  • Attend and participate in all training and team meetings
  • Learn new tasks (including Control Room Operation and Ground Support) and becoming proficient in performing these tasks
  • Operate mobile equipment, including but not limited to front end loader, sweeper, forklift, and manlift
  • Other duties as assigned in various work areas
  • Complete training to become CPR and First-Aid certified

The Experience You Will Bring


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience using a computer for email, data entry, creating documents, etc
  • Experience operating mobile equipment

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience training others
  • Minimum of Two (2) years of experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, military, farming, agriculture, carpentry, construction or warehousing environment
