Heat Transfer Project Engineer_ Ingegnere Termico

The Heat Transfer Project Engineer will join our technical team located in Vimercate (Italy). She/he will be responsible for customer’s specification review, code calculations and structural verifications of pressure vessel and Shell & Tube heat exchangers, compiling calculation report and drawing review and approval.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Perform Mechanical calculations of pressure vessels including modification to existing ones.
  • Perform mechanical calculations of heat exchangers in accordance with American and European codes (mainly ASME, EN)
  • Perform calculation of structural components on heat exchanger (saddles, skirt, anchor bolts, etc.)
  • Perform evaluation of localized stresses on components for imposed loads utilizing WRC 297/537.
  • Support the proposal team in detailed pre-ordering activities.
  • Interact with ASME Authorized Inspector and Notified Body
  • Attend Kick-off and Pre-Inspection meetings.
  • Guide technically CAD drafters.
  • Review inhouse drawing submittals.
  • Redaction of material specifications for material purchasing
  • Preparation of Installation and Operating Manuals
  • Support manufacturing during fabrication as necessary
  • Support project management on technical aspects
  • Timely resolution of technical doubts by effectively communicating with counterparts.

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  • Previous experience in mechanical design of Shell & Tube heat exchangers
  • Familiar with international pressure vessel codes (ASME VIII div.1, EN 13445 and AD 2000)
  • Mother tongue or proficient level in Italian.
  • Fluent in English (90% of the effort is spent in the international market)
  • Operating proficiency and experience in software for pressure vessel design like COMPRESS, PVElite and Sant’Ambrogio NextGen.
  • Good knowledge of international standards (API 660 and TEMA) and PED 2014/68/EU
  • Basic knowledge of welding and fabrication processes
  • Good understanding on different materials as per American and European standards.
  • Good communication skill to interact with customer, Manufacturer, Inspection agencies & consultants.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • You have previous experiences in using software for structural analysis (e.g: ANSYS).
  • You have business sensitivity. You are capable to find the most cost-effective solution optimizing use of resources and fulfilling customer’s specifications.
  • Experience in using other pressure vessel design codes.
  • Knowledge of a second language (German, French, Russian)
