Engineering Manager


The Engineering Manager will be a strategic partner in vision advancement. Focused on developing a culture consistent to Market-Based Management, the engineering team will couple operations to capabilities. Ensuring resources are leveraged on the highest value opportunities, in return creating a competitive advantage to our customer’s alternatives. 

From asset strategy to design for manufacturing, the engineering manager will collaborate across the organization to continuously transform our business. Empowering direct reports to seek and share knowledge, organically building capability into our organization. 

The ideal candidate will be contribution motivated and have the right virtue and talent necessary to advance our vision. Driving transformation, focusing on highest-valued opportunities, applying comparative advantage, and driving accountability are all expectations of this role.  

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Coach each direct report to understand and apply MBM, leveraging their gifts and to continually grow, develop and self-actualize. 
  • Build the correct team: select, develop, and retain the right people with the right values, knowledge, and capabilities. 
  • Set the correct expectations that align to the vision with focus on the prioritizes. 
  • Develop knowledge networks across the company, inside and outside of the industry and field of expertise; create virtuous cycles of mutual benefits. 
  • Identify trends early, continually experiment, leverage knowledge and drive transformation. 
  • Accelerate the continuous improvement culture for incremental gains. Cultivate an Ideation culture. 
  • Drive strategic planning: 
    • Project Management 
    • Asset strategies o Capacity planning 
    • Short & long-term vision planning 
  • Through Design for Manufacturing, connect product design to process methodology. 
  • Drive transformative opportunities to create a competitive advantage.  

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years’ experience in Engineering and/or Management
  • Proficiency in and the ability to model and implement the following concepts: empowerment and teamwork; kaizen; standardized work; PDCA and problem solving; 5S; quality improvement tools; JIT production tools including: Value Stream Mapping
  • Knowledge of and ability to manage department budget costs

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Knowledge of automotive manufacturing and of TS-16949
  • Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Desirable Knowledge and experience in Injection Molding, Plating, Painting, Automotive exterior trim
  • Knowledge in Automotive New model launch / program management
  • Experience in facilitating management to an Engineering group
