Sr Engineer 1, Automation


What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Evaluate and propose best cable assembly, termination methods that will meet our product’s manufacturing precision, quality, lead-time with best economic sense.
  • Effective communication and project management.
  • Continuously acquire technical skills to reduce development time and improve product quality.
  • Continuously upgrade technical competency to meet changes in job requirements and new challenges.
  • Share relevant knowledge and new ideas to solve manufacturing problems or needs. Gather & share of best practices, lessons learned (success & failure), prevent re-inventing, and challenge existing.
  • Ensure assembly manufacturability are considered in product design stage.
  • Contributes, support and exchange ideas, opinions on team projects. Help to prevent and resolve conflicts within and outside departments.
  • Conceptualize the assembly process either in semi-auto, fully automatic machines or fixtures for new products with both quality and cost considerations.Final costing should be evaluated and submitted to Manager for approval.
  • Spell out specifications and requirements for automation processes, source for vendors to quote, coordinate the projects, test run and qualify the machine using SPC tools and complete the final setup at Molex.
  • Study existing processes information related to assigned product to acquire the knowledge. Implement design reviews, lesson learn and FMEA to minimize potential failures.It comprises Process, QA and Product Design to gather all cross-functional feedback.
  • Implement short term SPC to all new products so as to establish the process capability.
  • Build samples for new products if required during the initial period using fixtures or production machine.
  • Undertake pre-production improvement of new products with production and ensure that it conforms to quality requirements; assembly processes are established and capacity are sufficient for initial production.
  • Provide documentation of tooling spare lists and training to process & maintenance engineers, technicians and operators so that they are fully competent in maintaining and running new production machines.
  • Promotes mutual respect and discussion among all engineers within assembly and other departments.
  • Achieve productivity goals in machine utilization, output and headcount management.
  • Manages a fair work load and department discipline
  • Manages priorities
  • Participate actively in developing value added process
  • Assist the other teams when there is an imbalance of workloads due to urgency of other job or on leaves or reservist (All instructions will be given by supervisor / manager).
  • All activities & development must comply with laws/regulations and meet all safety & standard requirements.
  • Other work duties as assigned by Management

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent.
  • More than 3 years working in Cable interconnect & termination Process, Precision Engineering, Automation or Connector manufacturing

  • Experiences in high speed precision automation, machine control, & knowledge of cable termination/ interconnect manufacturing technologies.

  • Ability to design & develop machine for assembly, or/& stamping, plating, molding.
  • In-depth knowledge & experiences in area such as handling & machine design.
  • Project Management, Presentation & effective communication Skills.
