Sr. Engineer, Global Supplier Quality

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Execute supplier quality system audits and supplier process audits, VDA audits at the supplier sites or remotely if needed, to ensure suppliers meet the ISO/IATF standards and Molex’ requirements. 
  • Complete the audit reports in a timely manner and share the reports with suppliers and Molex’ internal stakeholders. 
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates and follow up with suppliers regarding corrective actions and continual improvement. 
  • Monitor the performance (Scorecard, Quality Notification Data, Defect Type Analysis) of the suppliers. 
  • Participate in supplier business performance reviews led by the Procurement Category Managers. 
  • Support category business team led by the procurement category managers in supplier selection, communication, evaluation, and audits. 
  • Provide support as subject matter expert in supplier development opportunities and supplier continuous improvement projects in the categories of plating, coating, and packaging.  
  • Lead global containment, Quality Alert, and the Problem-Solving Process for high severity L3 and L4 QNs issued to suppliers.
  • Lead the review and evaluation of Global Process Change Notifications that are initiated by suppliers. 
  • Develop long‐term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas. 
  • Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects with an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting Molex requirements. Projects may include process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability analysis, 6‐Sigma, or 5S. 
  • Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base; drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement within Molex and with suppliers. 


The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • EDUCATION: 
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical/materials/chemical engineering or other technical fields.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE: 
  1. 5 Years plus experience in supplier quality management related functions. 
  •  SKILLS & ABILITIES: 
  1. Good English Skills in both Oral & Written. 
  2. In-depth understanding of quality system of ISO9001. Knowledge and experience with IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 audits are preferred. 
  3. Internal audit and supplier audit experience. 
  4. Knowledge and experience with Quality tools, such as FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA, APQP, PPAP, 8Ds etc. 
  5. Good understanding on GD&T and problem-solving tools (6 sigma belt will be a plus).  
  6. Experienced in quality root cause analysis. 
  7. Experience of handling supplier quality issue and developing/coaching the supplier to meet requirements. 
  8. Able to travel about 50% of time to suppliers mostly in South China and East China. 
  9. Able to attend meetings in mornings and evenings with global participants. 


What Will Put You Ahead

  • WORK EXPERIENCE: 
  1. Global SQA related experience.
  • SKILLS & ABILITIES: 
  1. Technical understanding in the areas of plating, coating and/or packaging. 
  2. Work experience as a quality engineer in a manufacturing environment. 
  3. Familiar with electrical connectors manufacturing process.
