Assistant Machine Operator

Description

Georgia-Pacific has an opening for an Assistant Machine Operator at our air-conditioned facility in Tolleson, AZ. Assistant Machine Operators work with the operations team to achieve daily production goals, ensuring that all standard operating procedures are followed, preparing for line runs and helping to maintain housekeeping standards. Assistant Machine Operators will learn to operate all types of full converting line and finishing equipment within company standards for waste, quality and productivity. They understand and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures. They will be trained to set up and operate all special functions and capabilities with minimal supervision or direction. They will analyze issues and suggest solutions to resolve or improve production.

What You Will Do In Your Role 

  • Reads and understand all information on job ticket pertaining to a specific job. Ensures that all necessary components to produce the job are present. Does not move forward on any job with conflicting information 

  • Fully understands how to achieve print quality and register equipment to produce required quality and can achieve acceptable registration within specified M/R standards 

  • Understands all technical aspects of press controls and can set up and operate; splicer, gluer, Straub applicators, Label Applicators, rotary cutter, register systems, etc. 

  • Understands tension controls, and ancillary equipment. Knowledge of how to web up the line, capable of setting glue rollers, changing plates, cylinders and glue pads. Has the ability to perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments 

  • Performs Cleaning as required according to TMS Standard Operating Procedure 1.01 and as directed by the First operator 

  • Fully understands and maintains accurate counts on every job 

  • Maintains a safe work environment 

The Experience You Will Bring 

Requirements: 

  • High School diploma or GED 

  • One year or more of experience operating production machinery 

  • Willing and able to work 12-hour shifts, day or night, weekends, and overtime as needed 

  • Willing and able to maintain a strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment 

  • Willing and able to work on your feet for prolonged periods of time and lift 35lbs occasionally 

What Will Put You Ahead 

  • Clamp truck certification 

  • Experience working in a converting operation
