Finishing Production Supervisor

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Shift Production Supervisor in our Plywood finishing department in Dudley, NC. The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading a wood products production team to work injury-free/incident free consistent with management philosophy and framework. The Production Supervisor is also responsible for supervising and coordinating production efforts that result in sustained improvement in all associated work processes including: Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs.

What You Will Do In Your Role

·Supervise/coordinate production efforts that drive improvement in all associated work processes including EHS, compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs.

·Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively eliminate hazards

·Facilitate team development and growth, employee skill development, problem-solving and resolution - Build employee commitment and ownership and hold employees accountable.

·Drive cultural change in which employees understand empowerment and accept responsibilities

·Provide safety training to crew members

·Assist with troubleshooting and solving production issues

·Provide coaching; team development/performance management

·Complete data entry responsibilities and generate reports

·Provide guidance of daily operations ensuring high degree of productivity and quality

·Work with the team to manage inventory flow and warehouse organization 

·Conduct monthly physical inventory counts

·Acquire and maintain knowledge of our inventory control processes, shipping and receiving records, and order processes

·Identify and implement improvements to workflow processes and standard operating procedures

·Manage time and attendance of direct reports according to policies and procedures 

    The Experience You Will Bring

    Requirements:

    ·High School Diploma or GED

    ·Experience in coaching, training, and developing staff

    ·Must be able and willing to work flexible work schedules and department needs. Schedule may include day, night, weekend and holiday work hours

    ·Must have working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn various PC-based production reporting systems applications

    ·Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience in an industrial, manufacturing or military environment, OR three (3) or more years of Plywood or Lumber manufacturing experience as a shift lead

      What Will Put You Ahead

      ·Bachelor's Degree or higher with a preference in a technical, wood processing, or business discipline.

      ·Five (5) or more years of supervisory experience in an industrial, manufacturing or military environment

      ·Experience in a wood products manufacturing environment

      ·Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
