Business Intelligence Analyst


Flint Hills Resources (“FHR”) is seeking data analytical and automation talent to join our Technical Center Team. Located at the FHR Corporate Campus in Wichita, KS, this role focuses on transforming the Quality and Compliance knowledge systems and business processes. It will require developing an understanding of business objectives, front-to-back business processes, system environments, and analytical technology capabilities.

A successful candidate will have a diverse background combination of general business knowledge, analytics tool aptitude, and the ability to influence. This role partners closely with business customers and IT to transform Q&C processes and uncover actionable insights around analytics and automation. This role will focus on transformation and process improvement while operating in an environment that supports experimentation!

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Master FHR analytics toolset (i.e. Power BI, Alteryx, Power Automate); and share your knowledge to enable users and improve their skills (e.g. training, user requests/questions, co-building)

  • Build relationships in the Q&C group and understand their business processes to uncover new analytics/automation opportunities

  • Drive process changes and adoption of an analytics mindset across the Q&C organization

  • Partner with process owners to define and challenge information/ process needs for business decisions

  • Scope, prototype, develop and deploy innovative and scalable business process solutions in the areas of data reporting, visualization, data analysis, and data automation.

  • Frequently and proactively communicate (verbal and written) with customers regarding projects' statuses and priorities

  • Use data to extract and convey insights, uncover new data relationships, and monitor business performance - all consistent with business goals and time/data constraints

  • Develop an understanding of Q&C business processes, build relationships with internal and external counterparties, and support various business strategies

  • Work with diverse groups such as end-users, IT, operations, lab, and others to create analysis, improve results, automate, and champion new solutions

  • Identify, recommend, and collaborate to implement process improvements, using sustainable technology solutions

The Experience You Will Bring


  • At least 3 years of experience in an Data analyst role (experience MUST include: Improving business data processes, Data analysis and visualization experience, and Leveraging data from enterprise-quality applications databases (i.e. Oracle, SQL, and/or datalakes) 
  • Experience with Power BI, Alteryx, Power Automate, and Power Apps 

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
