Business Development Engineer (m/f/d)

based in Ettlingen (München, or remote work also possible)

The main purpose of this position is to provide technical support within assigned target account(s) in technical communication between customer and hub design center and to support BDM and Sales in their efforts to generate new businesses.

Further the position holder will explore new product business opportunities with BDM and PM Teams and evaluates new development concepts. 

The Business Development Engineer will analyze, understand, and solve customers’ problems from an Engineering point of view. The target of the role is to facilitate design-ins of Molex MSBU  (Micro-Solution Business Unit) products by providing front-end technical support to customers, as well as collect, interpret, package and hand-over customer project information to PD team for new product developments.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Promote and deliver technical expertise to customers and support Molex by interacting with customer engineers and project leaders 
  • Build successful engineering contacts and working relationships with key technical areas of the customer 
  • Raise awareness of Molex products across customer engineering departments 
  • Participate in industry meetings and initiatives, and maintain a high level of product, industry, and market knowledge 
  • Be responsible for leading product design-in steps during the quotation phase for assigned projects

    The Experience You Will Bring


    • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant technical Engineering discipline 
    • Fluency in English, written and spoken; Fluency in German, written and spoken is highly desirable
    • Self-motivated and goal oriented  
    • 2D/3D CAD design skills 
    • Organizational skills to anticipate, plan, prioritize, and monitor workload
    • Proactive, and able to demonstrate initiative and a sense of urgency
    • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally

    What Will Put You Ahead

    • Solid product design and development experience in the automotive connector industry 
    • Experience in working directly with external Customers
    • Strong expertise in connector related development with deep understanding on connector manufacturing process (Stamping/Plating/Molding/Assembly) 
    • Experience in working with IATF16949 and VDA6.3 certified organizations and good understanding of the Automotive Market Requirements
