Georgia Pacific is seeking a Regional Business Analyst for the Wood & Fiber Supply Group located in Atlanta, GA. This position will provide analytical and strategic support for the business and will closely interact with Regional Managers and the Divisional Analytics Team. Georgia-Pacific WFS group is key to ensuring that our 80+ mills maintain a constant flow of logs, wood fiber and chips. WFS sources its wood from private lands owned by industrial, institutional, or individual landowners. A successful candidate will be a self-starting individual that seeks to innovate and embraces transformation with a focus and sense of urgency towards identifying and evaluating opportunities that will create value for the business.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Learn and understand the Georgia-Pacific Wood & Fiber Supply commodity trading business
  • Use descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive advanced analytics to create metrics as you partner with decision makers
  • Use optimization software to drive strategic goals and create value for our business partners by attaining an optimal plan
  • Drive collaborative discussions across the region to gain and share knowledge and identify innovation opportunities
  • Engage with Group Managers to determine optimal sourcing strategies to improve benchmarking results
  • Establish and manage timelines, project priorities, and strategic initiatives

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • GIS experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite or Office 365; (Outlook, Word, SharePoint, PowerApps)
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel Experience (spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data manipulation/analysis and formula creation)
  • Experience building and querying relational databases (i.e. SQL)
  • Experience with data analytics visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI
  • Previous experience gathering data, performing analysis, originating ideas, and presenting a point of view to key stakeholders 

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Economics, Finance, or Accounting
  • Knowledge of forest industry and wood procurement practices and operations
  • SQL Server
  • Tableau, Power BI or similar tools
  • GIS experience specifically with ArcGIS Suite and ESRI tools
  • Experience performing advanced analytics and predictive analysis using Python, R or similar tools
