Molex is now hiring for a Lab Technician for the Mechanical Test Execution Team in Lisle, Illinois with a passion and excitement for contributing to product development testing and support. We are looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic team member who is ready for a hands-on technical role. The successful candidate will work well in a collaborative environment to provide quality, timely results on various interconnect solutions to our globally diverse Engineering teams. 

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Read and challenge test plans to evaluate performance and reliability of terminals, connectors, and module level products/solutions under exposure to mechanical conditions 

  • Execute test plans and tasks involving various mechanical tests in accordance with industry, customer, and/or internal specification 

  • Operate automated mechanical force test equipment and build mechanical fixturing 

  • Perform various mechanical tests including, but not limited to: 

  •      Connector Mate/Un-mate 

  •      Terminal Insertion/Extraction 

  •      Normal Force 

  •      Durability 

  •      Cable Pull 

  •      Linear Cycling 

  •      Cable Flex 

  • Complete product evaluation and performance analysis using test results and advanced statistical analysis 

  • Develop, modify, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures to ensure repeatable and reproducible test methods/results 

  • Troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis 

  • Work closely with various project leaders to ensure efficient and timely project deliverables to customers 

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Engineering Science, or equivalent work experience in a laboratory environment for related field 

  • Ability to work independently and to effectively collaborate with a diverse multi-disciplinary team 

  • Ambitious, self-starting, and motivated attitude; willingness to learn 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, and Excel 

  • Ability to manage time and workload to meet project deadlines 

  • Proficient in reading and executing test plans 

  • Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results and make corrections 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 

  • Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and in a team 

  • Ability to remain flexible when changes arise 


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Engineering Science 

  • Experience with Instron force test equipment and Bluehill Universal software 

  • Experience with Mechanical Cycle Testing (Linear and/or Cable Flex) 

  • Experience testing electrical interconnect systems, including data analysis, and troubleshooting to aid in root cause failure analysis 

  • Experience with ISO 17025 or IATF 16949 related activities
