Logistics Engineering Coordinator


Designs, implements, and executes continuous improvement initiatives that optimize cost structures, improve productivity and product throughput, streamlines processes, and improves service and performance metrics across all operations within Materials and Logistics. Designs, analyzes and implements supply chain solutions to solve complex logistics problems for distribution of materials and finished goods

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Designs, analyzes and implements supply chain systems employed in the distribution of direct material and finished goods.
  • Analyzes and improves manufacturing & warehouse layouts to optimize material flow, storage, retrieval and distribution
  • Supports continuous improvement of operational and financial logistics performance
  • Designs, develops, validates, and implements methods and tools that improve operational flexibility and execution of a lean production systems using appropriate lean logistics concepts.
  • Modifies and improves existing logistics systems such as material flow, storage and information flow
  • Support and drive 6S programs and practices to maintain a safe working environment with good housekeeping practices. Ensure employees follow all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) policies
  • Supports Logistics teams in the development and implementation of methods for material ordering, communication, transportation, packaging, and distribution throughout the supply chain.
  • Encourage, support and foster an environment of open communication between all department/divisional groups, facilities, Rochester Hills and regional/global resources
  • Develops and implements solutions that focus on reducing lead time throughout the value stream and extended supply chain.
  • Collaborates with Lean Facilitator and other managers to identify improvement opportunities for workshops and actively participates in workshops
  • Teaches and drives the utilization of lean logistics tools such as Plan for Every Part, Kanban, Supermarkets, Milkruns, SAP Templates, etc
  • Daifuku shuttle system owner and all Material flow
  • Creation of Process Designs and Functional Designs for SAP changes, setup new parts into SAP and flow for supply RM to source BIN to consumption BIN flow
  • Develops and implements solutions that focus on reducing lead time throughout the value stream and extended supply chain.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • 4 to 7 years minimum experience in engineering related with logistics or manufacturing.
  • Understanding of assembly processes
  • Working knowledge of RM flow in automotive industry.
  • Previous supervisory experience. SAP strong knowledge of MM is a must. (specific WMS & IM).
  • Ability to read and interpret product, assembly machine detail and machine assembly drawings
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of supply chain, transportation and logistics concepts.
  • Proven experience independently performing complex routing, fleet sizing analysis, material flow and warehouse design and layout for multiple projects.
  • Thorough knowledge in MRP systems; preferably SAP modules WMS, MM and IM.
  • Strong knowledge of Logistics Planning, Material Management and Distribution Management in support of customer operations and requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean Logistics and modern Lean Manufacturing concepts Knowledge and ability to synthesize new and emerging technologies into manageable and practical applications.
  • Knowledge of part inspection, test methods, vision systems, and associated equipment
  • Project management skills that demonstrate the ability to set goals and priorities in order to complete projects in a systematic and timely manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely
  • Effective interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization


  • 5 years’ experience in automotive manufacturing
  • Previous Logistics and engineering coordinator experience.
  • Key userSAP MM modules , specific WMS & IM. 
  • MES or another Manufacturing shopfloor system
  • Microsoft Office. Siemens NX 3D solids CAD machine design training and experience.
  • Proficient computer skills. Experience with spreadsheet, presentation and word processing software
  • Knowledge of 3D solids CAD machine design.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials or Logistics field or equivalent experience.
  • English Advanced
