SRG Global’ s Advanced Development Center in Taylor, MI is searching for a Wastewater Specialist who will be responsible for maintaining the wastewater treatment process. The ideal candidate will have experience in chemistry and quickly process information and adapt to change. This person must be well organized, flexible and enjoy the process control challenges of supporting a multi-finish plating operation within a team of diverse people.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Operates and maintains wastewater treatment process and equipment to ensure compliance with State and federal environmental protection requirements
    • Monitors and samples water system and adjusts treatment levels where necessary to ensure system stability
    • Evaluate new chemicals for system treatment capability
    • Activates pumps, valves, and other processing equipment to move water through various treatment processes.
    • Reads and interprets meters and gauges on central control panel, or at individual machines within stages of the treatment process.
    • Utilize technical equipment such as inductive coupled plasma analysis device or atomic absorption spectrometer.
    • Remove waste materials from system in line with company procedures and government requirements.
      • Performs decontamination expended materials
      • Responsible handling of hazardous waste and the signing of manifests according to hazardous material and DOT regulations.
      • Decontamination and maintenance of filter press, filter screens and pump systems.
    • Adds chemicals to water system by predetermined formula.
      • Monitors chemical inventory and advises on reorder
  • Cleans and maintains treatment plant, pumping stations and wells
  • Follow all safety and PPE guidelines and STOP, THINK, and ASK.
  • Regular review of system procedures and work instructions for updates and improvements.
  • Conduct stormwater and wastewater sampling for laboratory analysis.
  • Regularly review facility spill control systems and air scrubbing system effective operation.
  • Conducts layered process audits for environmental, health and safety and ISO systems.
  • Proactive communication with all ADC departments and team members.

The Experience You Will Bring


  • The equivalent of 2 years of college education in engineering, chemistry, biological sciences, or allied field or greater
  • Ability to obtain level 3 state of Michigan certified industrial wastewater operator license.
  • Knowledge in chemistry and laboratory analytical processes
  • Comprehension of the principles and problems of management of the treatment process.
  • 24hr HAZWOPER training or greater
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize work and be proactive
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skill in MS Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Ability to read meters, charts and gauges and accurately maintain records of plant operations.
  • Ability to perform mathematical equations to determine chemical doses required for flow rates and proper treatment.
  • Ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
