Georgia-Pacific's Manufacturing IT organization is looking for an Technical Project Manager.  The role will lead a team of Project Managers and will be primarily responsible for defining, enabling, and promoting project management excellence as a capability within Manufacturing IT. Collaborating throughout IT on project management processes will be required. This role will also work collaboratively across IT to identify, strategize, plan, design, execute, and track IT projects. It will require applying portfolio, program, project and change management principles and tools to ensure best practices are adopted, utilized, and continually improved.  The position is expected to create project excellence frameworks, methodologies, and bring consistency of project process. The position has a process adherence and improvement focus and requires a strong sense of ownership and governance to drive successful project outcomes.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Leading a team of 10+ Program and Project Managers through all phases of the project execution lifecycle
  • Maintain and recruit a team of skilled Project Management staff, internal and external to the company, to effectively deliver on projects 
  • Being a hands-on, end to end, project manager for strategic projects as needed
  • Defining and driving adoption of consistent project management principles, processes, and frameworks within the organization
  • Working with IT and business leaders to collect, prioritize, resource, and manage projects across multiple manufacturing areas 
  • Working with project team to adequately scope, manage and monitor vendor engagements when needed
  • Effectively engaging and building relationships with IT, business stakeholders and our vendor partners to facilitate value-based project planning 
  • Utilizing project and financial methodologies and subjective feedback to monitor the health of projects and the portfolio 
  • Leveraging strong communicating skills across all levels of stakeholders and executives to keep the organization informed of project health
  • Identifying and working through issues and bottlenecks during all project phases and escalating when required
  • Accept and apply constructive feedback and suggestions, professionally dealing with the unexpected 

    The Experience You Will Bring

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • At least 5 years of supervisory experience
    • At least 8 years of professional Project/Program Management experience working in a large, cross functional organization 
    • Experience working on large ($1M+), complex (multi-system, multi-vendor) projects from charter to adoption 
    • Experience leading projects using both agile and waterfall methodologies 
    • Experience with Planview, MS Project or other project management software 
    • Willingness to travel up to 10%

      What Will Put You Ahead

      • Experience applying economic thinking, project and value realization metrics, and project costing and accounting
      • Experience using TFS/Azure DevOps to manage teams and requirements 
      • PMP Certification 
      • Scrum Master Certification 
      • Excellent skills in PowerPoint, Excel, and collaboration tools and technologies 
      • Experience leading large multi-site, multi-year projects 
      • Experience leading IT responsibilities during mergers and acquisitions
      • Program/Project experience in a manufacturing environment
