Flint Hills Resources is looking for a Measurement Specialist to support FHR Pipelines and Terminals. We are looking for entrepreneurial candidate who has excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and develop a team. The right candidate will also have the willingness and desire to drive continuous improvement while also have strong analytical, organizational, and troubleshooting skills. 

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Provide technical guidance for all measurement systems for Flint Hills Pipelines and Terminals. Measurement Systems to include, pipeline, loading rack, marine metering, density, sampling, provers, proving, static tank gauging for both large shore tanks and lease tanks, weight scales, etc. Products include crude oil, refined products, LPG, chemicals, asphalt, and various gaseous hydrocarbons
  • Ensure accurate measurement for each system by analyzing over/short with operations personnel and reconciliation with FHR accounting group
  • Mentor and train measurement technicians and operations as necessary to provide them with the knowledge level needed for their roles
  • Ensure the design and construction of new metering stations meet business objectives and follow the appropriate guidelines for custody transfer (per contract and API guidelines where applicable) or leak detection as necessary
  • Management of measurement related routine work-order creation, distribution, and proper documentation
  • Conduct Measurement assessments of Operations sites to discover opportunities for improvement

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Two-year Technical degree or Associates Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a measurement position including use of various types of metering such as positive displacement, liquid turbine, helical turbine, Coriolis metering, differential pressure meters and ultrasonic meters
  • Practical understanding of API MPMS Measurement Standards and NIST Handbook 44
  • Experience with liquid and gas flow computers, and communications to PLC and SCADA systems

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Working knowledge of Measurement related software
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
