Converting Production Supervisor – Akron, OH
Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Converting Production Supervisor to join our team in Akron, OH, a corrugated packaging facility. The ideal candidate will need to be self-driven individual with a passion for excellence in safety, manufacturing excellence, and quality. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to ensure the production team is meeting the objectives in safety, reliability, quality, cost, and customer service.
Supervisors at the facility will have the opportunity to contribute to a successful box plant, both in improving the efficiency of production and in helping to build a culture of Market-Based Management. This position provides opportunities for promotion both in Akron and in many other Georgia-Pacific and Koch facilities across the country. Come join our team!

What You Will Do In Your Role
- Providing leadership, coaching, and developing personnel in safety, quality, service, production, compliance, and problem solving
- Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement the appropriate mitigating strategies; investigate incidents and participate in resolution of causes
- Continued emphasis on cross-training and building the bench strength of team
- Addressing key issues and concerns; and interacting with employees from other departments to ensure quality, and on-time production
- Exemplify and drive Market Based Management® (MBM®) culture
- Engage in continuous improvement opportunities (reducing downtime and waste), and provide leadership/action plans for gap closure
- Partner with the reliability and maintenance team to ensure machines are maintained to specifications
- Plan, assign and direct work for hourly production employees; appraise performance and provide feedback as needed; assist in resolving complaints; hold employees accountable as needed; pro-actively communicate issues and results on a daily basis
- Working shift work, holidays, and overtime as needed
- Maintaining strict adherence to safety rules and regulations
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- A minimum of 2 years of experience supervising employees within a manufacturing, production, industrial or military environment
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite such as Excel (create/modify spreadsheets), Word (create/modify documents), and PowerPoint (prepare/present presentations)
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in manufacturing, business, or engineering
- Experience working in corrugated packaging or containerboard industry on a corrugator
- Corrugated Triple Wall Experience
- Experience working with Kiwi application
