Project Manager 

The Project Manager is responsible for the facilitation of effective management of work required to meet strategic business objectives. Also is responsible for the overall success of high profile customer launch projects. Using the MOLEX PDP project management methodology the project manager manages the cross functional project teams throughout the project life cycle. (The project life cycle encompasses the Project Preparation, Proposal Development, Project Plan Development, Preliminary Design Completion, Final Design Completion, Production Process Development, Product and Process Qualification, Production.  

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Lead and facilitate the cross functional team required to manage the project or customer program to achieve the objectives as prescribed by the project scope 
  • Ensure the successful on-time within budget execution of projects to the satisfaction of the project stakeholders i.e. customers, project sponsors and leadership 
  • Development of the detailed cross functional project coordination plan
  • Facilitate and manage the archiving of project documentation throughout the lifecycle of the project in the MOLEX PDP repository
  • Work closely with Business Development and Engineering functions to ensure accurate scope definition and project management plan development 
  • Work closely with the various departments and organizations to ensure efficient and timely project deliverables to customers
  • Provide work direction and project management oversight to assigned projects including scheduling, assignment of work, and reviews of project efforts to ensure that the project meets the technical and process specifications
  • Facilitate cross functional teams to establish and achieve project and new product requirements, schedules, priorities, performance and profitability 
  • Continuously conduct risk assessments of strategic, technical, finance and business factors impacting the plan and manage corrective actions to mitigate deviations to the project plan
  • Compile project status reports regularly in order to identify internal and external factors jeopardizing the project
  • Escalate issues and recommended solutions using the escalation process 
  • Manage adherence to project scope and ensure that scope creep is avoided. Changes to scope of a project must be approved and direction modified to accommodate changes
  • Lead and mentor less experienced functional team members and provide assistance as required 
  • Understand, support and contribute to current Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures

Skills & Abilities 

  • Proven analytical and critical thinking abilities resulting in sound solutions 
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business and finance’s and align accountabilities and efforts within area of scope 
  • Proven ability to apply technical knowledge to business issues
  • Strong computer skills, MS Word, Excel, Project 
  • Excellent (written and verbal) skills for effective and concise communication. Including ability to listen to others for meaning and intent
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate, develop, influence and work with other individuals and teams in a positive manner. Including an understanding to cultural differences  
  • Demonstrated ability to establish goals, project timelines and plan, prioritize and monitor workload of self and others in order to meet objectives and deliverables 
  • Capabilities to work directly with cross functional resources setting priorities, and follow up activity to meet project objectives
  • Capability to manage multiple projects at the same time 
  • Ability to remain flexible when changes arise
  • Basic understanding of financial, market and business initiatives and how Engineering supports them 
  • Ability to travel to global operations and assisting outside suppliers. Focus on assisting in reducing costs. Travel may include approximately 15% of time    


   

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or technical field
  • 7 + years experience in technical project management and new product launches
  • 5+ years demonstrated leadership capability with direct reports or in an individual contributor role with responsibility to influence 
  • Strong computer skills, MS Word, Excel, Project

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in the electronics manufacturing industry supporting medical and/or automotive applications 
  • Prior Global experience a plus
  • Advance Degree MS, MBA
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
