Chief Operating Engineer
INVISTA’s Maitland site located in Eastern Ontario is seeking a 1st Class Operating Engineer for the Power and Hydrogen plants.
Maitland site produces DYTEK®A amine, a chemical intermediate used globally in products such as polyamide plastics, fibers, adhesives, curing agents, polyurethanes, vitamins, pharmaceuticals and epoxy resins.
The Chief Operating Engineer (1st class) leads the Power/Hydrogen Organization and has charge of and responsibility for the safe management, operation and maintenance of the operation, as per the TSSA Act and with support from the site Operations/Maintenance Manager, Maintenance, Reliability and Technical resources in the organization.
·Lead, supervise and develop Operating Engineers
·Manage maintenance and operating safety and regulatory requirements associated with TSSA regulated equipment with production and maintenance teams
·Lead the operation of Power and Hydrogen Plant equipment in support of Key Driver of EHS, Reliability, Efficiency and Cost
·Landlord for Power and Hydrogen operating areas with high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping
·Lead high quality investigations on production issues
·Develop project economics for capital projects and provide project leadership as required
Background and Experience Requirements:
·1st Class Engineer License/Certification in good standing with the TSSA
·5 years’ experience in a manufacturing, chemical, petrochemical or refinery plant environment
Experience and Skills Preferred:
·Experience in leading and supervising teams
·Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
·Strong mechanical aptitude
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·Ability to lead cross-functional teams using Root Cause Analysis problem solving methodology
·Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines
·Ability to develop and implement systematic and sustainable programs and solutions
·Be able to work within a manufacturing environment
