Georgia-Pacific’s Alabama River Cellulose mill is seeking qualified talent to consider for a Mechanical Leader opportunity.  The Mechanical Maintenance Leader will be responsible for supervising predictive, preventive and proactive maintenance work activities and tasks to enhance availability and reliability of the mechanical plant equipment.  

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Responsible for providing hands on leadership for all mechanical task performed with emphasis on planning, scheduling, and work execution
  •  Develop and implement asset strategies that drive continuous improvement and support all elements of reliability
  • Responsible for facilitation of knowledge and skill development for the maintenance team and ensure all members progress and maintain compliance to a personal development plan
  • Rely on proven organizational, interpersonal and communication skills while leading MBM® culture with team focusing on Vision, Virtue and Talents, Knowledge Processes, Decision Rights and Incentives
  • Connect direct reports to their individual contributions, long term value creation, business results and compensation

The Experience You Will Bring


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 10 or more years of mechanical experience
  • Three (3) or more years of experience managing a maintenance crew
  • Maintenance planning and scheduling experience
  • Experience driving the implementation of solutions through the appropriate work processes
  • Experience with woodyard, pulp mill , utilities, and fiberline equipment maintenance 

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Preventative Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance Technologies, Lubrication, and Design for Reliability (Constructing equipment taking into account life cycle costs and maintainability)
  • Experience with application and use of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience leading formal root cause analyses
  • Experience with MS Office
