Georgia-Pacific is seeking experienced Professionals to consider for our Senior Power Systems Engineer to support our facilities. The Senior Power Systems Engineer will provide operational expertise, technical leadership, and remote monitoring of key aspects of power quality and reliability to deliver appropriate technical support for Georgia-Pacific manufacturing facilities. This position is based out of our Midtown-Atlanta, GA location.
What You Will Do In Your Role
Reporting directly to our Senior Director of Process Control Center of Excellence, this position will provide expert support of power systems across Georgia-Pacific site. Support including knowledge and guidance of electrical power system protection, control, and health monitoring. Specifics of this position:
- Proactively evaluate the health and stability of plant electrical systems and support development and execution of system improvement plans.
- Leverage the Georgia-Pacific monitoring and diagnostic team to ensure monitoring of critical power systems data across the system.
- Provide remote system troubleshooting/support, optimization, and risk mitigation.
- Ownership of standards to ensure the right technologies are deployed to support proactive evaluation and monitoring of power systems across Georgia-Pacific.
- Apply judgment, critical, and economic thinking to accomplish goals, increase efficiency, and reduce risk.
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an Electrical Engineering discipline
- 10 or more years of Electrical Engineering experience.
- National Electrical Code application experience.
- Willing and able to travel approximately 25% of the time
- Experience providing consultation on complex issues as a Subject Matter Expert
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience working within the paper industry
- Advanced knowledge and experience with power systems, relaying and system modeling, ranging from low voltage to high voltage power distribution systems
- Experience and knowledge of SEL Relay Systems, NFPA 70E
- Experience in GOOSE, DNP or Modbus protocols
- Experience as a power system owner at industrial facility (i.e. Knowledge of power generation systems a plus)
- Electrical Maintenance and reliability experience
- PE (Professional Engineer) License
- EasyPower/ETAP Software Experience
- Experience communicate complex technical issues to a varied audience
