Plant Superintendent – Waxahachie, TX


Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Plant Superintendent to join our team in Waxahachie, TX. As a member of the plant leadership team, the Plant Superintendent partners with various departments to ensure we produce and deliver corrugated boxes that meet our customer’s needs. The Superintendent will directly manage salaried supervisors and have responsibility for approximately 80 hourly employees in a continuous manufacturing environment. The Superintendent will report directly to the Director of Operations and have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations, with potential for advancement both within the plant and across the company. 

 Waxahachie is centrally located in Ellis County, Texas just beyond the southern suburbs of Dallas and is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area. Waxahachie offers a variety of outdoor recreation options and close access to many regional attractions.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Accelerate the application of Market Based Management (MBM®) throughout the operation departments to create maximum long term value for our customers, company, and society
  • Safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively identify and mitigate critical hazards
  • Effectively manage and advance all aspects of manufacturing – Safety & Health, Environmental, Reliability, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Yield, Compliance and Capital/Maintenance Investment
  • Measure production efficiencies, analyze and solve machine downtime causes, eliminate waste, maintain budgetary raw material usages, perform root cause analysis, schedule production, and establish standard operating procedures 
  • Identify, understand and adopt relevant best practices to advance faster than the competition
  • Direct and indirect responsibilities for salary and hourly operation employees, including development of roles/responsibilities/expectations, performance reviews and compensation evaluations for each individual employee 

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Three (3) or more years supervisory or leadership experience within a manufacturing, production or military environment
  • Experience developing salaried and hourly employees
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word (to write business correspondence), Excel (for use of spreadsheets, reporting, simple formulas) and Outlook (for internal and external correspondence)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Manufacturing, Business, or Engineering
  • Five (5) years or more experience in a managerial position in an operational, engineering, or maintenance role in a manufacturing environment
