Koch Minerals & Trading is looking for a Quantitative Developer to join our Data Science Team in London, UK. The Data Science Team at KM&T partners with trading groups to leverage practical applications of machine learning and to build powerful analytical applications that contribute to our profitability. The Quantitative Developer will work on the front lines of the group to build analytical platform and perform analysis for KM&T’s global natural gas business. They will collaborate with Traders, Analysts, Developers, Data Scientists, and others as they enhance transparency into markets and impact profitability. They will have the opportunity to develop and grow professionally as they learn new technologies, engage with experts across Koch Industries, and gain hands-on experience in building commodities trading knowledge systems.

The successful candidate will need excellent communication, interpersonal, and technical skills. They will be a self-starter with a high sense of urgency, an appetite to learn, and a desire to solve difficult problems in new ways.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Work closely with analysts, traders, developers, data scientists, and others to develop powerful analytical solutions to business problems
  • Translate real business problems into quantitative knowledge systems that drive profitability
  • Support traders and analysts in real time as analytical questions arise
  • Identify and collect relevant datasets along with analysts and traders
  • Visualize data in meaningful ways
  • Experiment with constructing trading models
  • Share knowledge across teams and provide a strong technical and statistical perspective
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment

The Experience You Will Bring


  • 2+ years professional experience with Python 3
  • 1+ years professional experience with time series analysis using pandas, numpy, matplotlib, and other computational/visualization tools
  • Experience in commodities trading
  • Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, Plotly Dash, or another BI solution
  • Proven project management skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution

What Will Put You Ahead

    • Experience within natural gas, power, and/or renewables markets
    • Experience with git and GitLab/GitHub/other for source control and collaboration
    • Experience implementing web back end components using Django, Flask, or another Python web framework
    • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
    • Experience with Scrum/Agile/Kanban
    • An advanced Mathematical degree
