Piping Estimator/Scope Developer

Koch Specialty Plant Services, LLC (KSPS) is now hiring for a Piping Estimator/Scope Developer. The successful candidate will understand welded piping systems and be able to scope projects, develop construction schedules, and develop accurate estimates for welding and piping projects, including piping supports, structural steel within heavy industrial environments (refining, petrochemical, pulp & paper, etc.) This candidate will have a full understanding of scope of work, milestones, logic ties, and critical path. They will assure all schedule activities are included, correct, logically tied, and accurately timed.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Site job walks to scope project, understand requirements, identify constraints
  • Build schedules and estimates for customer bids
  • Work with KSPS project management, engineering, and operations to support project planning (post-award) and resource-loading schedules
  • Obtain subcontract bids for estimate & schedule incorporation
  • Site tasks may include climbing ladders and scaffolds while wearing standard PPE

The Experience You Will Bring 


  • Experience in piping and/or mechanical work in heavy industry
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, isometrics, P&ID’s 
  • Experience developing scope of work and schedules
  • Ability to travel on average 50% of the time or as needed to job sites 

Physical Requirements:

  • Respiratory Protection Fit-Testing and Pulmonary Function Testing are required prior to employment
  • Fitness for Duty exams are required prior to employment

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Technical school training, apprenticeship program, or college degree
  • Experience in P6 or Microsoft Project.
  • Knowledge of fired equipment (boilers, burners, flares, VCU)
  • Knowledge of I&E 
  • Experience with advanced work packages
