Senior Quality Engineer
We are currently seeking a Senior Quality Engineer for our Decatur, Georgia Gypsum Quality Laboratory. In this position, you will play a fundamental role in guiding decision making by driving excellence in our quality systems that will lead to long-term value for Georgia-Pacific.
What You Will Do In Your Role
- Assist site departments with Quality Improvement Projects.
- Provide guidance/coaching for Corrective Action/Preventative Action planning.
- Plan and perform Site Self Assessments through internal system and walkthrough audits, write reports, and follow-up on responses and corrective/preventive actions.
- Remain up to date on current Regulatory trends (Regulatory Observations, New Regulations/Guidelines).
- Perform other Quality Compliance functions as needed.
- Work closely with Product Stewardship, Compliance and Legal groups on any Quality related issues.
- Technical expert/ consultant in Manufacturing and Quality tools and usage.
- Drive adoption of proven technical solutions (one best way) that profitably reduce meaningful variation
- Manage change in the Quality Program and Qualification documentation
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
- In-plant experience in Gypsum manufacturing
- Solid understanding of Quality & Quality Management including quality control methods, statistics, statistical methods, design of experiments (DOE)
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- High level of proficiency with statistical programs such as JMP, MiniTab
What Will Put You Ahead
- Five (5) or more years’ in-plant experience in Gypsum manufacturing
- Ability to analyze process data using control charts and statistical methods
- Experience with product testing, including physical, attribute & sensory
- Previous experience in a collaborative work environment
- Certified Quality Engineer or 6-Sigma Black Belt
