Production Shift Supervisor

Based in Brandon, Manitoba, Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC’s operations have been producing agricultural fertilizer products since 1967. We synthesize and blend nitrogen, phosphate, and sulfur products with ammonia, which we market primarily in the prairie provinces of Canada and the northern United States. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, we employ approximately 300 dedicated team members. Production Shift Supervisor:

Koch Fertilizer Canada is looking for an energetic, highly organized individual to join the Production team. This individual will provide prompt, professional and high-quality support to allow the organization to create value. This role offers a fast-paced working environment, and opportunities for career development within our growing organization! 

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Selecting, retaining, and performance managing of crew of operators
  • Developing a strong team and team culture aligned with MBM principles
  • Providing strong leadership to meet safety requirements, promote environmental stewardship, maintain equipment integrity, and achieve operational excellence
  • Ensuring prompt, efficient and adequate service to the department through daily meetings, authorizing work orders, prioritizing and scheduling maintenance work
  • Maintaining plant operations according to set standards; maintain established efficiencies, productivity, product inventories, and production rates
  • Responding to and troubleshoot emergency operating and process problems
  • Ensuring a high standard of safety by conducting daily walk-arounds, ensuring items on outstanding safety lists are resolved, and by fulfilling STOP requirements
  • Consulting with Plant Leadership and Human Resources as appropriate 
  • High level of integrity, honesty and professionalism
  • Organizational and time management skills; detail-oriented


    Physical Requirements: 

    • Unassisted physical mobility in/around an industrial manufacturing environment; sit, stand, kneel as necessary
    • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights
    • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
    • Ability to pass a pulmonary breathing test/wear a gas mask-type respirator and PPE
    • Tolerance to occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals with appropriate PPE
    • Availability for flexible hours based on job requirements including shift work and emergency call outs 

      The Experience You Will Bring

      Requirements:

      • 5+ years of experience in industrial process operations
      • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • High school diploma or GED
      • Demonstrated initiative, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
      • Good judgement and ability to make decisions

        What Will Put You Ahead

        • 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate
        • Experience in a management/supervisory position in a unionized setting
        • Emergency Response, First Aid and Industrial Fire Fighting training
