Phillips-Medisize, a Molex Company, is seeking a Tool Room Lead to support our Menomonie, WI facility.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Provide direction and leadership to the tool room department
  • Coordinate, repair, and revise molds and secondary tooling. Work with outside vendors as needed
  • Troubleshoot complex mold problems and keep production molds in efficient operating condition
  • Evaluate new mold performance in production
  • Revise and update 2D and 3D mold designs to reflect mold revisions
  • Create documentation and drawings for revisions
  • Communicate mold related issues with customers, providing technical support and tooling alternatives
  • Prioritize workflow to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Manage tool room supplies and equipment, and critical tooling spares inventory
  • Ensure that molds are properly assembled, disassembled, cleaned, prepped, and staged for production runs per scheduling requirements
  • Set up and operate toolroom equipment, including manual and/or CNC
  • Ensure the mold storage system is organized and updated
  • Actively participate in continual improvement

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Associates Degree in a manufacturing related discipline with 1-3 years of related experience or (5) year mix of education and experience
  • Minimum two (2) years supervisory/leadership experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience using CAD/CAM software in a mold repair and maintenance or mold manufacturing environment

  • Leadership skills including ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong tool build and design knowledge
  • Ability to use Solidworks and Mastercam; experience preferred
  • Problem solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of plastic injection molds
  • Demonstrable mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
