Quality Operator – Warrenton, GA

Have you heard? Georgia-Pacific has opened a new state-of-the art lumber mill in Warrenton, Georgia. This location receives about 150 log trucks a day and produces approximately 230 million board-feet of lumber a year with plans to expand beyond that in the future! This is an exciting opportunity to work in a technologically advanced plant. We are seeking an experienced Quality Operator to join our team. What You Will Do In Your Role:

• Measuring dimensional lumber for being on size
• Optimization of equipment.
• Following standard work process and procedures.
• Work directly with HMIs.
• Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures


  • Lumber Manufacturing process knowledge.
  • Experience working with measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and measuring tapes, and other basic hand tools.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft office (word, excel, teams), optimizer software, and sorter HMI.
  • Ability to follow procedures for standard practices in the planer mill, including a good understanding of the lumber manufacturing process.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to use calipers.
  • Ability to use micrometer.
  • Ability to read technical documentation (procedures & manuals).
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft office (word, excel, teams), optimizer software, and sorter HMI.
  • Ability to adhere to a structured quality schedule to ensure the mill runs smoothly and produces quality products.
  • Ability to go through packs of lumber for inspections.
  • Ability to obtain a forklift license.
  • Ability to complete quality control documentation and store/maintain on QVY site and/or local folders.
  • Ability to understand Optimization systems, Grade Printer, and moisture meter.
  • Ability to work well on a team and communicate amongst teammates, production, and/or supervisor when issues arise that need to be addressed.
  • Must be available and willing to work additional days or stay late if calibrations or additional quality checks are deemed necessary.
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment, e.g. safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, and other PPE as required by specific jobs
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and /or pulling for up to 12 hours a day
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience operating a forklift
  • Experience operating and interpreting HMI monitors in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with lumber or wood products
  • Experience with lumber grading
