We are presently recruiting for a Second Shift Production Supervisor for our Sun Prairie, Wisconsin facility.  

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Truly taking personal ownership of safety. This is not just providing leadership and direction for the safety of all employees and visitors to the facility, it’s more.
  • Lead, track and improve performance on key department goals and objectives. This requires a highly engaged, hands on supervisor setting expectations clearly, communicating changes effectively, owning messages and championing operator ownership to improve results.
  • Develop crew members for improving individual and organization performance. We are a non-union facility and pay based on performance. Taking this approach requires high engagement from supervisors in regards to ensuring employees are being trained properly to their individual needs and that of the business. It requires supervisors to have frequent conversations with employees on his/her performance, providing ongoing coaching, and at least one formal performance review annually.
  • Lead performance management and corrective action processes for assigned crew. Explaining why and giving people a purpose to rally around is important to motivating them. However, ensuring people are selected, hired, and retained based on virtue (behaviors) that lead to high performance is more important. This requires a high level of accountability to what we are trying to achieve and how we achieve it. Our supervisors do not run from conflict or difficult conversations, but present a respectful and humble persona constantly working to hire, retain and develop the right talent.
  • Continuously improve plant performance through process improvements and lean manufacturing techniques, where it adds value. Innovation is not just inventing a new product, it’s introducing new and better ideas. Our supervisors are closest to the people doing the work and in the best position to help us improve work outcomes, to leverage our people’s talents and ideas and bring them to life.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other departments (e.g. Sales, Scheduling, Warehouse, Shipping, etc.), to optimize production requirement.
  • Work with upstream and downstream processes (and people), to exceed customer expectations. Having mechanical/technical aptitude, being process minded and also being a leader of people; create even more value when supervisors understand the ‘entire’ process from order to fulfillment and work to understand and communicate between all stakeholders. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Technical & Mechanical aptitude to learn a manufacturing process. Includes being logically minded and process orientated.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years supervisory experience working in a fast pace, 24/7/365 operations environment. This specific experience needs to demonstrate ability to:
  • Take ownership of messages and decisions not made by them.
  • Implementing controversial changes and motivating employees around the change.
  • Understanding how to motivate employees from varying backgrounds
  • Leveraging talent to maximize productivity.
  • Familiarity with the cost of decisions and impact to other processes.
  • Experience setting “high“ standards/measures and driving to them.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading positive employee relations to reduce turnover and increase retention
  • Demonstrated success in measuring and improving processes to meet organization goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 4 year Bachelor Degree is preferred. Absent a degree, the individual needs to have additional, related leadership experience that demonstrates the acquired skills and abilities.
