Genesis Robotics & Motion Technologies - Automation Product Engineer 

Langley, BC

We are searching for an engineer and technical expert with extensive experience in robotics automation, who is keen to apply their knowledge to solve customer problems. Reporting to the Applications Engineering Lead, you will work closely with customers to understand their automation needs, and integrate our motion technologies with their systems. To ensure that we can best serve our customers, you are expected to become an expert on the automation needs of the various robotic markets that Genesis will be targeting, and understand how our motion technologies can be best showcased in those markets.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Work closely with customers to understand their automation needs and assist them in integrating our actuators within their systems 
  • Build a knowledge base of automation needs for targeted robotic markets 
  • Assist customers in selecting sensors, drivers, and controllers that would best work with our actuators 
  • Help develop a parameterized model of a driver and our actuators that will be used in assessing customer requests 
  • Work closely with the Engineering team to move projects forward and deliver to customers 
  • Set up and attend trade shows (once per year) 
  • International travel to assist customers (two to three times per year) 
  • Be an active contributor in all areas, helping where necessary for the team and the projects; Yes, sometimes also helping in the kitchen! 

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Technical degree in Engineering or Engineering Physics 
  • 10+ years of experience in complex electromechanical systems engineering, in fast-paced new product development environments 
  • Experience working directly with customers 
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, complex technical concepts to a wide range of audience; explaining complex technologies and system designs clearly and concisely 
  • Experience using commercial servo drivers, and knowledge of their capabilities and limitations 
  • Experience with commercial feedback sensors and their protocols 
  • Knowledge of motor control theory and concepts for brushless multi-phase motors 
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink Real-Time 
  • Knowledge of forward and inverse kinematics for use in solving multi-link positioning systems 
  • Strong electromechanical aptitude – hands-on attitude 

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with Delta robots and articulated robot arms Working technical fluency in German, Japanese, or French is an asset
