Georgia-Pacific's Albany, OR Chemical Facility is seeking a qualified individual to join its manufacturing team as a Plant Engineer.This position creates value by management of the predictive and preventive maintenance programs as well as designing and implementing long-term continuous improvement applications. This leadership role provides guidance and direction to team members and provides valuable insight as a member of the plant leadership team. 

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Advancing the plant's commitment to safety and environmental excellence through application of the Zero Accidents Culture and Market Based Management (MBM®).
  • Providing direct leadership and supervision of the maintenance team which includes various craft skills (Planner, Mechanics, Electricians, and Instrument Technicians and approved Contract Labor).
  • Leading and developing employees to improve their capabilities and performance.
  • Scoping, planning, coordinating, scheduling plant managed projects as well as routine and breakdown maintenance.
  • Conducting Management of Change (MoC) activities.
  • Managing corrections and updates of Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs).
  • Coordinating with the Purchasing Manager to control costs and improve Inventory Management.
  • Understanding/Implementing Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) requirements and sharing that knowledge with others.
  • Developing new procedures and improving upon existing Standard Maintenance Procedures.
  • Managing the plant's Mechanical Integrity (MI) program.
  • Working with the plant Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to facilitate improvements in equipment information and planning/scheduling activities.
  • Supporting organizational excellence efforts in the areas of Maintenance Reliability, unplanned downtime minimization, maintenance costs and storeroom control.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering OR a minimum of five (5) years’ maintenance leadership/Engineering experience.
  • Three (3) or more years' experience in engineering, project management, and/or maintenance in an industrial/manufacturing and/or military environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Proven experience as a self-starter who can effectively manage multiple tasks and solve problems to achieve desired results.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong team building skills and ability to work with a diverse team.
  • One or more years' experience with any Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience with Process Safety Management(PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulations.
