E&I Maintenance Leader (Back-end)


Georgia-Pacific is currently recruiting for an Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Leader to support the Naheola Mill E&I Maintenance department supporting the Pulping/Woodyard and Utilities area of the mill.  This position is responsible for leading a team of E/I Supervisors and Planners to continuously improve reliability. This role reports to the Maintenance Manager and has five direct salaried reports. 

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Lead a maintenance team consisting of (3) Electrical and Instrumentation Planners and (2) Supervisors to continuously improve reliability
  • Provide leadership, technical support, and direction to the E&I maintenance department responsible for the repair and preventive maintenance of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems in the manufacturing operations for the Woodyard, Pulping, and Utilities areas of the mill
  • Drive safety and compliance excellence through enhanced equipment reliability, personally modeling safe behaviors
  • Hold E&I salary and hourly employees accountable for improving the site safety performance
  • Drive the site vision for maintenance and reliability excellence through proper planning and scheduling, continuous skill-building, and predictive and preventative maintenance practices
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to develop long-term asset and maintenance strategies
  • Support troubleshooting efforts and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for unplanned failures
  • Promote and support an innovative culture in maintenance with operations that supports an Ownership Based Work System including knowledge transfer to operating technicians
  • Ensure Electrical Safe Work Practice compliance
  • Support area routine outages to ensure planned maintenance work is completed in the outage window
  • Review maintenance spend to ensure the team is competitive, efficient, and effective
  • Perform GEMBA walks in the areas to improve employee engagement and maintenance performance
  • Participate in week-end duty coverage on a rotational basis
  • Manage contracted services  

The Experience You Will Bring


  • High school diploma or GED

  • Five (5) or more years of work experience in industrial electrical & instrumentation maintenance
  • Supervisory/management experience with responsibility for direct reports
  • Experience with motor controls, AC systems, and DC systems
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with PLC systems and Variable Frequency Drives ( VFD’s)
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial electrical distribution systems
  • Experience referencing and using electrical safety standards – NEC and NFPA 70-E

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering/Technology
  • Maintenance experience in fully integrated pulp and paper facility
  • Experience maintaining, calibrating, programming, and troubleshooting instrumentation
  • Experience with instrumentation equipment predictive and preventative maintenance 
  • Experience with MS Project
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with Automation to include Industrial Networks, Motor Control Components, Event Sequencing, PLC applications and equipment selection
  • Working knowledge of OM-15 Electrical Guidelines and OM-19 Instrument & Control Systems Guidelines
