Process Controls Engineer

Description

The role of the Controls Engineer is to support Plant Operations by troubleshooting, developing and managing equipment to meet safety, quality and productivity targets. This technical leadership position is responsible for leading problem solving, driving change, promoting innovation, sustaining equipment performance and creating a positive shop floor culture. The Controls Engineering is expected to interface with engineering on new product launches, diagnose complex machine issues with maintenance, and take on new projects that advance operations. The role requires a high degree of organization, disciplined work practices, adherence to work standards, excellent communication skills, and team development. 

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Demonstrate and display integrity and accountability. The role is responsible for maintaining and controlling equipment / machinery / infrastructure systems that impact Safety, Quality, Environmental and Productivity.Demonstrate leadership qualities (i.e. organization, planning, follow-up, daily audits, scientific based decision making, team building, pro-active mindset, continuous improvement, can-do mentality, positive worksite communications, etc.)

  • Responsible for immediately reporting to management all environmental concerns related to work being carried out, as well as, all incidents, which present a hazard to people, production, or the environment.

  • Responsible for following all environmental policies, procedures, work instructions and requirements applicable to his or her work, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.

  • Stay in compliance with all Safety requirements (Safety Awareness, LO/TO, Crane operations, 6S)

  • Provide controls support to other SRG Global plants as needed.

  • Develop talent by mentoring and training other maintenance and controls personnel.

  • Ensure the plant’s emissions are compliant.

  • Reduce downtime by identifying and correcting ongoing issues.

  • Develop and implement unique automated solutions to benefit production and improve cycle time.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and implement programming adjustments to all PLC, HMI, and SCADA programs along with variable frequency drives, vision systems, and other automated equipment.

  • Manage the design and installation of electrical equipment including PLC’s, HMI’s, variable speed drives, and other instruments.

  • Accountable for troubleshooting automation equipment throughout the plant.

  • Escalate and notify when processes are out of control or not meeting standard. Must be able to develop and initiate countermeasures or remedial measures to mitigate risk based on the severity and occurrence of the abnormality.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley Rockwell software including Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, and FactoryTalk View ME. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar discipline is preferred, high School Diploma and/or GED Equivalent is required. 

  • Experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred but is not required. 

  • Knowledge of data entry, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
