Strategic Sourcing Specialist

JohnZink is looking for a Sourcing Specialist! This position is responsible for identifying supplier's both nationally and internationally for JZHC Global Supply Chain. This position negotiates pricing agreements, works closely with procurement and supports sales with estimating on all future projects for JZHC. This role is open to remote work in any location in Singapore.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Develop sourcing strategies by commodity for region of responsibility
  • Conduct qualification process in cooperation with other JZHC disciplines such as QA/QC, Procurement and Engineering
  • Identify, develop and maintain quality supply sources to meet company requirements. Maintain pricing evaluations for onshore and off-shore suppliers by commodity
  • Support the development of a Low Cost Country (LCC) Sourcing strategy and implement accordingly
  • Lead and drive the implementation of the Sourcing strategies from sales phase to project execution stage, ensuring opportunities are leveraged and risks mitigated. Implement any additionally required sourcing action for the assigned project
  • Participates in technical project reviews to orient and influence technical decisions according to global cost of purchase and risk evaluation considerations
  • When necessary initiates and presides project meetings with the supplier related to commercial topics
  • Ensure strategic suppliers are qualified and maintain accurate documentation within SharePoint
  • Ensure performance measurement of strategic suppliers and maintain a level of performance that meets department/ company expectations. Reports status and progress on a regular basis to Operations Leader and Regional Manager
  • Ensure timely communications with strategic suppliers and follow a supplier relationship management approach
  • Develop long term agreements with strategic suppliers ensuring a win/win scenario whilst maintaining competitive advantage for the company
  • Coordinate activities to ensure efficient hand off from strategic to operational activities
  • Solicit quotations, prepare commercial/technical bid packages, and lead the supplier selection process
  • Negotiate price, terms, delivery, and issue contracts with selected, qualified suppliers in accordance with job schedule and requirements to achieve best price and delivery and maximize company profitability
  • Oversee the project procurement activities to ensure materials are received timely to meet project schedule, resolving any issues or matters of concern. Provide appropriate feedback on best practice methods to improve profitability efficiencies and avoid warranty/back charge costs
  • Forecast regularly supply, capacity and price trends, keep estimating updated
  • Recommend continuous system and department improvements to accurately track and respond quickly to Company requirements
  • Represent departments on various company committees as requested
  • Take ownership of schedule. Work with suppliers to ensure delivery commitments are met. Maintain a high level of ontime performance (OTP)
  • Monitor performance at subcontractor facilities, including but not limited to staffing levels, planned hours of operation, receipt of major materials, and performance of sub-suppliers
  • Proactively identify any potential bottlenecks, critical path items which could jeopardize overall project schedule; alert relevant parties in the event of schedule slippage and provide solutions to resolve
  • Monitor process sub-suppliers (coating, galvanizing, plate rolling, etc.) as required to verify status of production and anticipate issues which will affect schedule Attend Kick-off/Pre-Inspection meetings at subcontractor facilities as required
  • Monitor and report completion of milestone completion dates such as dates for receipt of free issue items, approval of welding procedures, or receipt of approved drawings.

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Intermediate Purchasing/Material software programs, MS Office, MS Outlook; and MRP systems
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Regional or Global Strategic Sourcing
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or related field
  • Willing and able to travel 50% of the time

  • Strong technical aptitude to understand technical drawings, documents, and specifications

  • Advanced negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, schedule management and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must possess skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a time sensitive environment to meet all required deadlines
  • Technical software skills to keep accurate and easily accessible records
  • Product knowledge about vessels, large structures and/or heavy equipment
  • Direct sourcing experience for fabrication services
  • Familiarity with lean practices
