Operations Leader- Pulp, Power and Recovery

The Operations Leader will manage our Pulp Power and Recovery departments and will work closely with Product Stream Leaders, Manufacturing Engineers, Area Managers, Maintenance Planners, Craftspeople, Engineering Managers, Operations, and Contractors to create the greatest long-term value for GP. 

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Working with and through others - Setting expectations, and holding employees accountable
  • Providing effective coaching as needed, developing, and encouraging high levels of teamwork and participation on a diverse team
  • Engaging with employees and focusing on the development of talent
  • Supporting training and development initiatives for the crew and department
  • Managing daily shift operations to achieve production goals and communicating goals in the areas of quality and production
  • Collaborating and knowledge sharing with other departments across the mill to ensure success of operational goals
  • Developing a point of view on the true current state and the desired future state, while developing and executing plans and strategies to close those gaps
  • Supporting routine and annual outages- planning, assigning, and providing follow-up
  • Striving for continuous improvement- recognizing opportunities to minimize and eliminate waste and following through to ensure the achievement of results
  • Managing and advancing all aspects of manufacturing to include reliability, quality, cost, yield, compliance and capital/ maintenance investment, safety and compliance, and EH&S
  • Acquiring and sharing knowledge of applicable standards, policies, and procedures in areas of EH&S
  • Driving a safety-focused culture, regularly engaging in, and encouraging safety participation among crews

The Experience You Will Bring

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an Engineering discipline with (2) or more years of experience managing a manufacturing process OR in lieu of a degree, four (4) years of experience managing a manufacturing process
  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience leading a team of direct reports
  • Experience within a continuous process production environment
  • Experience with kraft recovery liquor cycle or the bleaching process

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Microsoft Project
  • Experience using Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience leading a pulp, power and recovery product stream
