Georgia-Pacific has an immediate opening for an Administrative Assistant at our Gypsum Plant in Tacoma, WA. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated, skilled hourly professional with a working knowledge of administrative functions and a solid foundation in the skills needed to properly support various departments within the plant. This position creates value by supporting leaders with day-to-day admin needs, maintaining records in accordance with the retention policies, and assisting with HR functions.
What You Will Do
Administrative responsibility supporting Operations, Safety, Environmental and HR.
Team-player who operates in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
Work independently with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects and switch easily between tasks.
Ensuring records are properly maintained and updated in accordance with our record retention policies.
Help coordinate meetings, trainings, lunches, and other events.
Help with problem solving for organization and workflow items.
Supports with written and verbal communications, both internal and external at multiple levels in the organization.
Assist other departments with recordkeeping, audits and other compliance tasks as needed.
Assists with various processes including reporting metrics, stay interviews, new hire onboarding, accounting, electronic filing, record retention, payroll and other HR related duties.
Ensuring confidentiality as the primary point of coordination for the HR Business Partner.
Assists the Plant Managers and plant leadership teams with day-to-day administrative needs.
Other miscellaneous tasks and projects as needed.
The Experience You Will Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working in an administrative / HR role.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and work on short deadlines.
What Will Put You Ahead
- 2+ years of experience in an Office or HR Assistant role.
- Experience working in a union environment.
- Experience working in a Manufacturing or Industrial environment.
- Associate degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Tableau, Kronos, MP2, MOE.

For this role we anticipate paying $28/hour to $35/hour. The role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
